New Year Appeal

The Sambodhi New Year Project was started in 2013 and has ran successfully for 6 consecutive years. Falling in April, the Buddhist and Tamil New Year is a time when family is honoured and celebrated. Such is its significance that some residents are brought home by their natural family to spend the holiday together. However the majority of Sambodhi residents remain in the home, forgotten.

It is for this reason that the New Year Project started. Each year the project gathers enough support to gift each resident with a new year outfit (new clothes are traditionally bought at this time of year). The celebrations are supported by a music band and special meal. Many traditional games are played and it’s a time when the residents of Sambodhi Home celebrate being a family together.
