Camps

Find out which camp is for you!

Our camps have been created to offer respite to the residents at Sambodhi Home. Camp activities include art & crafts, daily exercise, gardening, special events and excursions. Volunteers will help ensure the successful participation of our residents at camp. This may mean assisting a resident with limited mobility or adapting activities to suit the different needs of individual residents. Variety being the spice of life, our camps follow different themes. Volunteers are encouraged to select a camp which best reflects their skills and interest.

What is special about Splash Camp?

February is the best time of year to visit Sri Lanka and we intend to make the most of it. Fortunately Sambodhi Home is situated close to some of the world’s best beaches. Volunteers will join the residents as they build mega sandcastles, increase their water confidence and improve their muscle tone while exercising in the water. If you are a water baby, this one is for you.

What is special about New Year Camp?

Imagine a Christmas without family! This is the experience of the majority of our residents every year in April. During the Tamil and Buddhist New our residents are forgotten. They are not invited home. They are not visited. It is for this reason the New Year Appeal was started in 2013. The New Year Party has now become hands down, event of the year in Sambodhi Home. Volunteers will join forces with a team of local volunteers to make this year’s celebration the best yet.

What is special about Summer Camp?

Summer Camp is considered the residents’ annual holiday. Bringing the residents to new places and trying out new activities is what it’s all about. From boat safaris to kite flying we’ve discovered a lot but are confident there is more. Last year’s camp saw the home take it’s first overnight trip to the historical city of Kandy. Volunteers will work closely with staff to ensure excursions are memorable and safe for our residents.
